Samsung has finally unveiled the long-rumored 200MP ISOCELL camera sensor. The ISOCELL HP1 is the company'due south (and the world'due south) first 200MP smartphone camera sensor. It features a dynamic pixel binning applied science that adjusts the output resolution depending on the ambient lite for optimum results. The visitor also unveiled the ISOCELL GN5, a slim 50MP camera sensor for smartphones.
The ISOCELL HP1 is a i/1.22-inch 200MP sensor with a native pixel size of 0.64μm. Based on the lighting situation, its all-new ChameleonCell technology offers full-pixel rendering, ii×2 pixel binning, or iv×4 pixel binning. In two×2 pixel binning mode, the sensor offers 50MP images with 1.28µm pixels. In four×four pixel binning manner, the ISOCELL HP1 offers 12.5MP images with two.65μm pixel size. The sensor too supports 8K video recording at 30fps, 4K video recording at 120fps, and a fairly wide field of view. The company hasn't revealed which autofocus technology is used in this sensor.
The ISOCELL GN5 is the visitor's latest slim 50MP camera sensor. Information technology is the world's first 50MP smartphone photographic camera sensor with Dual Pixel Pro autofocus applied science for all-directional autofocusing. It is a 1/one.57-inch sensor with a native pixel size of 1μm, but it supports 2×2 pixel binning for 12.5MP images in low-light conditions. It also features Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) technology to absorb as much calorie-free every bit possible within a pixel and reduces crosstalk for lower dissonance. Information technology supports 8K 30fps and 4K 120fps video recording besides.
Both new ISOCELL camera sensors from Samsung are currently available for sampling, and we may come across smartphones with these camera sensors sometime next year. None of these sensors are equally impressive and flexible as the ISOCELL GN2, though, which is Samsung's biggest sensor yet and features Dual Pixel Pro autofocus.
Duckhyun Chang, Executive VP of the camera sensor business at Samsung Electronics, said, "Samsung has been pioneering ultrafine pixel technologies that are taking high-resolution image sensors to the next level. With the ISOCELL HP1 that is breaking barriers and ISOCELL GN5 bringing ultrafast autofocus, Samsung will continue to lead the trend for next-generation mobile imaging technologies."
